Mrs Henderson Presents nominated for four Olivier Awards

March 2016

Bruno Wang Productions is delighted that Mrs Henderson Presents, the West End show it co-produced, has been nominated for four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.

As well as the top award for new musicals, Mrs Henderson Presents has been also nominated for Best Actress in a Musical (Tracie Bennett), Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (Emma Williams) and Best Actor in a Musical (Ian Bartholomew).

Bruno Wang, co-producer, hailed the nominations as a deserving reward for the musical: “I am thrilled this fantastic show has been recognised by the Olivier Awards. Since its transfer from Bath, this brilliant production has been delighting London audiences night after night.”

Mrs Henderson Presents is the hilarious musical based on the hugely popular 2005 film that starred Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins. It tells the story of Laura Henderson, a recently widowed Londoner, hopelessly searching for a way to spend her time and money. Circumstances lead her to the renovation of a theatre, and she recruits a feisty impresario, Vivian Van Damm, to present a bill of show-stopping acts. As war looms and box office sales struggle, Mrs Henderson has an idea… The Windmill Girls! She gathers a glamorous group of nude females to pose as statues and before long the audience flocks to the theatre to see the show.
