Groundhog Day is a bold and imaginative stage adaptation of the 1993 film classic, first premiering at London’s Old Vic in summer 2016. With music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by original screenwriter Danny Rubin, the musical follows Phil Connors, a jaded TV weatherman stuck reliving the same day—February 2—in the small town of Punxsutawney.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, with choreography by Peter Darling and Ellen Kane and design by Rob Howell, the production is celebrated for its witty storytelling and ingenious staging. From miniatures to cinematic jump-cuts, the time-loop concept is brought to life with theatrical flair. Andy Karl’s standout performance as Phil earned him critical acclaim and an Olivier Award, while the show itself won Best New Musical at the 2017 Olivier Awards.

Blending humor, heart, and technical brilliance, Groundhog Day reimagines a familiar story with emotional depth and theatrical magic—offering a joyful and thought-provoking experience all its own.
