The Dazzle

Richard Greenberg’s The Dazzle is a haunting and eccentric drama inspired by the true story of the Collyer brothers, Langley and Homer, who became notorious recluses in early 20th-century New York. Set in their cluttered Harlem mansion, the play explores themes of obsession, isolation, and the complexities of sibling relationships. The 2015 production at Found111 starred Andrew Scott as Langley, David Dawson as Homer, and Joanna Vanderham as Milly Ashmore, a wealthy woman who enters their lives and becomes entangled in their world. 

The production was staged in the intimate and atmospheric Found111 space, formerly part of Central Saint Martins art school, which added to the immersive experience. Critics praised the performances, particularly Scott’s portrayal of Langley, describing it as hypnotic and compelling. The play’s blend of dark humor and psychological depth captivated audiences, making it one of the standout theatrical events of the year.
